My Experience
25 Years
I qualified as a doctor in Sri Lanka from the University of Colombo in 1982. There I worked in the fields of Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Ophthalmology before becoming a full time general practitioner. I worked as a full time GP there for nearly 10 years, then came to Australia in 2002. As soon as I came here I got employment as a medical officer and continued as a GP for the past 15 years.
I consider myself as a specialist General Practitioner with special interests in Mental Health, Travel Medicine, Family Medicine, Diabetes and procedures such as Implanon insertion and removal, Skin Cancer and Lesion removal and Wedge resection of toes etc. Further I am confident in handling Ophthalmological diagnoses and appropriately managing them.
My qualifications include Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Diploma in Family Medicine, Fellowship of Ceylon College of General Practitioners, and Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
I prefer to be called Palitha.
